Ayrshire’s Hidden Gems

A 7-night break playing 5 excellent links courses across Ayrshire which are favoured by the locals.

Golf Courses

Prestwick St Nicholas – The 26th oldest course in the world. Its deep bunkers, fast fairways and bursts of gorse mean it stands the test of time and provides a stern assessment of any golfers talents.

The Irvine Golf Club – A hidden gem in every sense, this traditional links is often used by the R&A as a Final Qualifying venue for The Open Championship.

Royal Troon (Portland Course) – Shorter and tighter than the ‘big course’ this is a beautifully presented test with a mix of five par 3’s tempered with four par 5’s.

West Kilbride Golf Club – Be thankful for the spectacular views this world class links course offers across the Firth of Clyde. Its anti-clockwise route means out of bounds features regularly.

Stranraer Golf Club – Found beside Loch Ryan, this course was the final design by the legendary James Braid before his death in 1950. The course weaves its way throughout a range of mature trees, meaning it is regularly voted as one of the toughest, yet fairest, courses in Scotland.
